I filmed with Phoebe Goodman as she collected samples in a refrigerated room.
We discussed many aspects of her work - but I also felt the unusual working conditions (in the freezing cold and with an awful stench) was quite quirky and would appeal to non-scientists.
This feeling was vindicated when producers at East Midlands Today liked the story and asked me to put togther a short report for the news (unrelated to this project).
I'm the first to admit it doesn't do justice to her science, but it's a fun film which perhaps casts new light on the work scientists do.
And I have plenty of other footage about the science which can be used at a later date. |
