University of Nottingham scientist Janet Folkes is also a distinguished hot air balloonist, the holder of many world records.

So it was little surprise that she was included among a list of balloonists to be made "Freeman of the City of London".

What is perhaps surprising is how much trouble she had getting to the ceremony on time!
