Ifty Ahmed's part of a team developing an alternative to the metal plates and screws used to help people recover from broken bones.

They've created a polymer reinforced with phosphate glass which will "dissolve" into the body rather than requiring surgical removal.

if perfected, they say it will revolutionise the way broken bones are treated.
