This is a simulation of the sky above Bethlehem around the Jesus was thought to be born.

Astronomer BorisHäußler created the simulation for a couple of light-hearted Christmas videos we made about what may have been "The Star of Bethlehem" which led wise men from the East.

It shows the most likely candidate was a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, which would have been quite a sight for ancient astronomers and occurred in the part of the sky that Babylonians would have asscoiated with Israel.
